Clare & Limerick Networking Event at Rine Hotel - Celebrating the Wonderful People Behind Tourism in the West of Ireland

What a wonderful day of connections and inspiration at the networking event at the 'Rine Hotel', celebrating the incredible work being done to promote tourism across our beautiful region.  Carrygerry Country House were delighted to attend.

It was a real pleasure to meet so many passionate people, creative businesses and dedicated individuals who are bringing our heritage, culture, traditions and landscapes to life for visitors and locals alike.  Tourism is about so much more than a place to visit - it is about the people, stories and experiences that make a destination truly memorable and Irish people have that in abundance.

One of the highlights was the McKernan Woollen Mills textiles tour and cafe, where you can enjoy learning about their wonderful work and admiring their beautiful bespoke pieces which were so elegantly modelled on the day by Ro Hallam.  A lovely showcase of Irish craftmanship, creativity and tradition.

If you are visiting West Clare, I also met the lovely Siobhán o' Brien, a talented singer with a very special offering - the opportunity to enjoy traditional Irish songs sung by Siobhan while she bakes traditional Irish soda bread in her cottage in Quilty.  What a wonderful authentic Irish experience, bringing music, food and storytelling together in such a personal and memorable way.

History lovers were certainly well catered for, with a fascinating insight into 'Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum' and the important role Foynes played in aviation history as the original transatlantic flying boat terminal before Shannon Airport became the regions International gateway.

'Ennis Walking Tours' with Historian Dr. Jane O Brien where she offers three types of Walking Tours in Ennis.  The History Tour, The Dark History Tour and the Tasting Tour which all sound fascinating and a great way to explore the fabulous town of Ennis.

Carmel Shaw from the OPW at 'Ennis Friary' spoke so passionately about Ennis, its heritage and the stories that make the town so special.  A trip to the Friary is a must which is one of the oldest buildings in Ennis and it is Free.  Carmel also spoke about Scattery Island just off Kilrush - an uninhabited island with fascinating wildlife, history and heritage, offering visitors the opportunity to connect with nature and the past.  Scattery Island can be accessed by Ferry using ' Scattery Island Tours'.

Anyone planning a visit to the Burren which is a must see when visiting the Cliffs of Moher, Kerry Prendiville from the Burren Visitor Centre offered a timely reminder of why this centre is a must visit.  It is the ideal starting point for understanding the Burren's remarkable landscape, geology, heritage and stories before heading out to explore this extraordinarily beautiful part of County Clare.

Emma Ahearne spoke passionately about Lough Gur and the beautiful offering for County Limerick, also King Johns Castle in Limerick City which have been featuring many events recently and we were delighted with her offer of a 10% discount for all guests staying at Carrygerry Country House.

I met with Hannah Arnup of Ballymorris Pottery in County Clare where they offer tours and the opportunity to make  your own Irish Pottery Piece.  She has some beautiful bespoke pieces in her shop.

We gained a glimpse behind the scenes of the preparations and experiences surrounding the 'Ryder Cup' scheduled in Adare for 2027 - a reminder of the enormous oportunities major sporting events bring to tourism in our region.

For the Golfing enthusiast we were delighted to meet with Noreen from 'Ennis Golf Club' who kindly offered our guests a discount to play 18 holes at their Golf Club.  When booking accommodation at  Carrygerry Country House make sure to ask about Golf rates.  We are lucky to have so many wonderful Golf Clubs in this region.

Another particularly interesting conversation centred on the Slow Food Tourism Campaign highlighting the importance of local produce, food heritage and authentic experiences connecting visitors with the places they explore.  It was very interesting to hear business owners from Michellin Star Restaurant Homestead Cottage, The Burren Beef Company and The Treaty City Brewery - all contributing in their own unique way to our visitor offering.

From Traditional crafts and music to food experiences, museums, walking tours, wildlife, heritage and world class events there is so much to discover in the Clare & Limerick region with so much work going on behind the scenes.

Clare and the wider Shannon region have so much to offer and it is the people behind these experiences who make it unforgettable.
